LEICESTER are delighted to announce their East Midlands Bowl clash with Coventry will be sponsored by Alfreton-based Kleeford Coin Auctions Limited.
The first senior fixture of the season at the Paul Chapman & Sons Arena takes place on Saturday April 11 (7pm) and is a long-established battle between local rivals.
The EMB was historically run over two legs, but this is currently not possible despite the continued battle to bring racing back to Coventry after the controversial closure of their stadium by developers at the end of the 2016 season.
The Lions are pleased to play their part in supporting the work of the Campaign Group at Coventry and look forward to welcoming a large number of Bees fans on the night.
Kleeford Coin Auctions Managing Director Leigh Rose is an avid speedway fan, who initially supported Long Eaton before switching his allegiance to the Lions.
He said: “The East Midlands Bowl was once the traditional first fixture of the season in days gone by, and it holds some special memories for fans of both clubs.
“Through Kleeford Coin Auctions I am proud to put the company name to this special Midlands derby ahead of what we hope will be another exciting season in the Championship, as well as keeping the name of Coventry Speedway alive.”
Lions promoter Stewart Dickson added: “Leigh has been a true friend to us having supported the club initially through advertising and heat sponsorship.
“The partnership with Kleeford Coin Auctions was further extended by becoming match-day sponsors of the East Midlands Bowl in 2013 and 2015, and we are grateful that Leigh is backing the event for a third year.”
